Are composite-fibres, such as carbon-fibre, sturdy enough for means of transport, for example a bike?

The tensile strength of carbon fibres is about for times stronger than the toughest steel alloy, even though it weights only a quarter of it. That's why it's favoured in the automotive industry, in racing, aviation and space industry, in industrial and medical engineering.
