AX.TEST – Test procedures at ax-lightness To test the variety of loads the bike components of ax-lightness are exposed to during the ride, a suitable testing is a basic requirement for a long time period of operation.
It is realized by using a test stand, which can be rebuild for different bike components. Besides performing the testing by using the DIN EN 14781, own standards will be used, which are very practical related. The constant further developments of the DIN saftey standards means simulating the real loads in laboratory. The data of different load collectives catched on a test run will be supplied in the control program.
Therefore both static testing like linear increasing loads until failure as well as dynamic testings will be performed. This gives information about long-term behaviour of the materials used.
The special mesuring software allows an overview of every tested part. The characteristic of the components can be distinguished into stiffness, applied materials and layer direction/amount.
At the same time a failure analysis of the tested components is possible and further technical expertise of fracture behaviour can be made. The developing period can substantially be reduced by using a test stand because you can react quickly to the recent results.
A force-deflection graph is made in advance for every product to get information about the stiffness. Actuating the pressure cylinders in different ways allows following load cases: | Fork: | static: | Brake application by tensile load
Torsion of head tube by inverse tensile/pressure
Uneveness of road surface by pressure load | | dynamic: | implementation of all load cases simultaneously by specification | | | | Handlebar: | static: | in phase/opposite phase loads (downhill/out of the saddle) until break | | dynamic: | proceeding different load cases by a loop until break
analysis of load cycle | | | | Stem: | static: | bending load torsional stress | | dynamic: | equal to dynamic handlebar testing |
